Our Team

Dr Fred de Looze is a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of General Practice, School of Medicine, University of Queensland, and has been conducting clinical trials as a principal investigator(P.I) since 1994. He has been involved as P.I in a large range of phase II – IV drug development trials across a range of medical conditions as well as national and international outcomes based trials. He retired as the Director of the Inala Health Centre General Practice and Inala Health Centre General Practice Clinical Trials Unit in August 2006 after 13 years of service. This was a joint University of Queensland and Queensland Health position. He still is involved as a MO in Clinical Trials with the Princess Alexandra Hospital. The clinical trials are managed by our two study coordinators. Both coordinators are Registered Nurses who have some 20 years of clinical trials experience and more than 35 years nursing experience between them.

Ms Carol Bendall is and has been the Senior Clinical Research Coordinator for Trialworks Clinical Research Services since its inception in November 2006. Carol has been involved in Cliical Research since 1998, initially in hospital based research studies specific to her speciality area of ICU. She has worked with Dr Fred de Looze for eight years as both Research Nurse and Clinical Research Coordinator in a broad range of clinical trials both in the general practice and hospital settings at the Inala Health Centre General Practice Clinical Trials Unit and the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Carol was responsible for the Coordination of the FIELD Study which was a five year Diabetes Outcome study which involved 240 participants.

Her areas of expertise and responsibilities include ethics preparation and submission, patient recruitment, blood taking and processing, completion of Case Report Forms, resolution of data queries, and liaising with investigators, monitors and other personal to ensure the smooth running of the trials. Before entering clinical research Carol, who trained at the PAH had extensive clinical nursing experience, specialising in the areas of intensive care and neuroscience.

Ms Vanessa Campbell is and has been a Clinical Research Coordinator for Trialworks Clinical Research Services since its inception in November 2006. Vanessa has been involved in Clinical Research since 1998 as Clinical Trial Co-ordinator at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology. She has worked with Dr de Looze for eighteen months Clinical Research Coordinator in a broad range of clinical trials in the general practice setting at the Inala Health Centre General Practice Clinical Trials Unit.

Her area of expertise and responsibility include ethics preparation and submission, patient recruitment, blood taking and processing, completion of Case Report Forms, resolution of data queries, and liaising with investigators, monitors and other personal to ensure the smooth running of the trials. Before entering clinical research Vanessa who trained at the PAH had extensive clinical nursing experience specialising in paediatric care at both the Mater Childrens’ Hospital Brisbane and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Sick Children London,UK.
